From its roots in the 19th century, today the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) is the largest conservation organisation in Europe with more than one million members.

Wildlife and the environment face many threats. The RSPB focuses its work on the species and habitats that are in the greatest danger, and increasingly uses the Internet to inform, campaign and generate funds to resource this work. The RSPB uses its Web site, www.rspb.org.uk as a tool to inspire and engage supporters and to appear rational, informed and relevant to professional and governmental audiences.
